The Joy that isn’t shared, I’ve heard, dies young.
Anne Sexton, ‘Welcome Morning’
PRAXIS ALUMNI
As the Praxis welcomes a seventh cohort of participants in the Fall of 2025, we want to be intentional about connecting with each other beyond our Praxis journeys. We want to share the joys & frustrations (all of it!) we’ve experienced learning to integrate this with God life into our systems of living. We want to continue in the life of abundance, together.
If you have ideas, needs, or hopes…just let us know.

Often, we come across an insight of life with God and call it enough. What we might remember is that insights are invitations to encounter with the Trinity; we just need to hang with it. When we last gathered overnight in 2023, Trevor Hudson imparted a jewel of wisdom that has become a core invitation of the Praxis arc: Insight is the consolation prize. Encounter is the grand prize. This year, Dave Ripper (pastor and author of Experiencing Scripture as a Disciple of Jesus: Reading the Bible like Dallas Willard) will extend the same invitation, guiding us within in the rhythms of a Praxis retreat to re-encounter scripture on an experiential level.
Some more about our new friend Dave:
Dallas Willard is one of the most beloved figures in the modern spiritual formation movement, and his insights into Scripture have been described as revolutionary. Willard read the Bible uniquely—with the reverence of a Southern Baptist, the intellect of a philosopher, and the heart of a mystic. Join us on retreat with Dave Ripper, pastor and author of Experiencing Scripture as a Disciple of Jesus: Reading the Bible like Dallas Willard, as Dave guides us to experience the presence of God through the pages of His Word—just like Dallas did. You’ll discover that the Bible is far more than a book we should study. Scripture is a gateway to eternal living.
Dave Ripper is the lead pastor of Crossway Christian Church, a multicongregational church in southern New Hampshire, focused on spiritual formation. He earned a master of divinity from Denver Seminary, and a doctor of ministry in spiritual direction from Fuller Theological Seminary and The Martin Institute for Christianity and Culture and Dallas Willard Research Center at Westmont College. He is the author of Experiencing Scripture as a Disciple of Jesus: Reading the Bible like Dallas Willard, coauthor of The Fellowship of the Suffering and serves as the chaplain for the Boston Bruins. Dave and his wife, Erin, a mental health therapist, have three children. They make their home in the woodlands of New England near Nashua, New Hampshire.
